Old San Juan Kart Upstream: https://github.com/nasilvae/old-san-juan-kart Commit: f8468fecf4460fa330c9080e5897c29de928ad2e License: MIT Local changes: Added a touch-preview option, removed remote fonts and built locally. Check frame rate on real phones. Remote fonts removed; on-screen controls also available in the review. Cover: StockCake CC0, https://stockcake.com/info/license (existing thematic stock art, not gameplay). # Third-party notices Old San Juan Kart itself is MIT licensed — see [LICENSE](LICENSE). The game ships **no binary assets**. There are no image, audio, video, model or font files anywhere in this repository. Every texture, sound, piece of music and 3D model is generated by code at runtime, from primitives (`CanvasRenderingContext2D` for textures, the WebAudio graph for sound, and Three.js geometry for models). That is a deliberate design constraint, and it is what keeps this project free of third-party asset licensing. The list below therefore covers only *software* dependencies and the two web fonts the page links to. --- ## three.js Bundled into the distributed JavaScript. - Version: 0.185.1 - Licence: MIT - Copyright (c) 2010-2025 three.js authors - https://github.com/mrdoob/three.js ``` Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions: The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software. Not distributed as part of the game. - Licence: MIT — https://github.com/vitejs/vite --- ## Fonts Both are **referenced from the Google Fonts CDN**, not redistributed in this repository. Both are licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits commercial use, embedding and modification. | Font | Designer | Licence | | --- | --- | --- | | Bungee | David Jonathan Ross | SIL OFL 1.1 | | Rubik | Hubert & Fischer, Meir Sadan, Cyreal | SIL OFL 1.1 | If the fonts fail to load, the CSS falls back to `system-ui`, so the game stays fully playable offline. ## Emoji Item icons in the HUD are Unicode codepoints (`U+1F965` coconut, `U+1F367` shaved ice, and so on), rendered by whatever emoji font the player's operating system provides. No emoji artwork is included in or distributed by this project. --- ## Content and likenesses - **Landmark geometry** — El Morro, San Cristóbal, the Capitolio, the Coliseo, the Hato Rey towers and so on are original low-poly interpretations, modelled from scratch in code. In the United States, of which Puerto Rico is a jurisdiction, 17 U.S.C. § 120(a) expressly permits pictorial representations of architectural works that are ordinarily visible from a public place. The Castillos San Felipe del Morro and San Cristóbal are National Park Service sites; works of the U.S. federal government carry no copyright. - **Road geography** — the Expreso Las Américas course follows a real corridor. The layout of a public road is a geographic fact and is not copyrightable. The control points were authored by hand from written driving directions; **no map data, tiles or extracts were used**, so no map database licence (OpenStreetMap's ODbL or otherwise) applies. - **Signage** — road signs carry real place names and route numbers, which are government designations used descriptively. Building signage uses generic Spanish common nouns (`PLAZA`, `COLISEO`, `ESTADIO`). No company logo, wordmark or trade dress is reproduced anywhere in the game. - **The flag of Puerto Rico** is an official government symbol in use since 1895 and is not subject to copyright. - **Music** is generated at runtime from a traditional Afro-Cuban 3-2 son clave and a ii-V-I-VI chord turnaround. Rhythmic patterns of traditional folk music and harmonic progressions are not copyrightable subject matter, and no melody from any existing composition is reproduced or transcribed. - **Characters and items** are original designs drawn from Puerto Rican folk culture (the coquí, the vejigante, the piragüero). Game mechanics are not copyrightable; no character, name, mark or artwork from any other game is used. This project is **not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by** Nintendo or any other company. "Mario Kart" is a trademark of Nintendo and is referenced in the documentation only descriptively, to describe the genre. Local build omits remote Google font loading and falls back to system fonts. three-185-MIT.txt The MIT License Copyright © 2010-2026 three.js authors Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions: The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software.
