A Hundred Saved Prompts, and Today's Task Is Still Unfinished

Turn a popular prompt list into one bounded experiment, with a real input, a checkable result, and a record of what changed.

At eleven at night, you save another essential prompt list. A hundred uses: learning, work, writing. Almost all seem relevant. The confirmation appears, but the unfinished list from this afternoon has not moved.

The gap does not necessarily mean laziness. Collecting methods can quietly replace using them. Saving feels like progress while the awkward material remains untouched.

A popular Reddit prompt list also attracted criticism of generic advice and promotion. Rather than trying every entry, ask which idea could help you finish one thing today.

Replace “learn AI” with a deliverable

This is an original exercise, not the poster's work record. Imagine maintaining a game website. Six confirmed player questions concern phone controls twice, saving twice, orientation once, and price once. Your deliverable is a short FAQ draft.

Put the answers you have confirmed beside each question. Mark the rest unknown. You supply this foundation because the tool cannot create commitments for the site.

A useful result might contain three groups, replies no longer than two sentences, and the location supporting each claim. Small is useful here: you can identify what to adopt and what still needs checking.

Give one saved method a small test

Choose one relevant approach and keep the material, tool, and standard stable:

Group these six questions by what the user needs to do. Draft only from confirmed answers. Retain the original question numbers and mark unknown matters for confirmation. Do not add promises about saving, multiplayer, or price.

Before judging style, check coverage, mistaken grouping, and whether unknowns became certainties. Then adjust the voice.

If controls and orientation are merged, decide whether that helps the reader perform the same action. Symmetry in a table is not the purpose of categorization.

Include rework in the cost

Suppose manual work takes twelve minutes. AI drafts in twenty seconds, but checking takes eight minutes and repairs another three. These invented numbers illustrate why generation time is not total task time.

One unimpressive comparison does not prove the method useless forever. You may be building reusable rules. Record where rework occurred and watch whether it falls in a comparable later task.

Useful help leaves something identifiable: fewer missing question types, easier evidence retrieval, or unresolved issues handed to the right person. It need not produce a dramatic efficiency percentage.

Give the collection a way out

Keep four things: input, adopted request, final result, and checks. Other prompts can remain available without obscuring what this attempt taught you.

Add an “actually used” column to your collection. Write “grouped six questions into three categories, found missing save information, sent it for confirmation,” rather than a product name.

Next time an appealing list appears, ask which task it serves. If there is no answer yet, return to the six questions on your desk. Finish the small page that can genuinely be finished today.
